Rebel Salute Celebrates Ten Years

Rebel Salute Celebrates Ten Years
For Immediate Release

On January 18, 2003, Tony Rebel’s Flames Productions, in association with Cable & Wireless Mobile hits Southern Jamaica with another massive Rebel Salute showcase. Rebel Salute will mark the tenth anniversary since this very popular roots and culture music production found its home in the consciousness of a people.

The Rebel, who was recently awarded the Order of Distinction for his contribution to reggae music, says his anniversary gift to the loyal patrons of Rebel Salute will be another electrifying roots festival, featuring the artistic genius of some of reggae’s finest sons.

Staged once more in beautiful St. Bess, at the Port Kaiser Sport Club, the ultimate conscious vibrations will echo from deejay, Buju Banton. The ‘Gargamel’ has been noticeably absent from the Rebel Salute line-up for a couple of years, but his sheer musical power and scintillating stagecraft remains unmatched in the dancehall.

Beresford Hammond, another recipient of the Order of Distinction for outstanding work in the field of entertainment, along with singers, Bob Andy and George Nooks, will also share their gift of song at Rebel Salute 10.

Idolized for harmonious vocals and deeply spiritual messages, Luciano and Abijah will give encore renditions of their righteous raps. The more aggressive dancehall style is never absent at Rebel Salute as Sizzla makes his return to the stage and Capleton threatens to become an institution at this reggae festival.

The future of roots reggae will be well represented by exciting newcomers, I’ngel Chanta and Lymie Murray while the present queens of the business, Nadine Sutherland and Queen Ifrika complete the billing.

If Rebel Salute 2002 is anything to go by, Promoter Tony Rebel can boast a superbly organized production. The Rebel says his Flames Productions Company is working hard to ensure the measures instituted last year, resulting in smooth entrances and exits and improved ticketing and parking, will remain in place.

In anticipation of the usual massive following at this event, traffic control procedures will again be strictly enforced in order to ensure and maintain the general order experienced at the show’s venue in previous years.

The Official Launch of Rebel Salute 2003, the 10th Anniversary, is scheduled for Monday, December 30 at the Hilton Kingston Hotel at 7:00 pm.
