The 8th Annual Tamika Reggae Awards

New York, NY (February, 1996) The 8th Annual Tamika Reggae Awards Ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 2nd, 1996 in the New York City's Paramount Theatre, Madison Square Gardens. The show will be co-hosted by Electra Records recording artist Nadine Sutherland and singer/rapper Shinehead, while radio personality Jeff Sarge will serve as Master Of Ceremonies.

The Tamika Reggae Awards has joined the ranks of other major award shows like the Grammys, The Soul Train Music Awards, The American Music Awards and The Essence Awards, by staging its presentations midweek. Originally scheduled for Saturday, March 30, 1996, The 8th Annual Tamika Reggae Awards will remain at The Paramount (Madison Square Garden), starting at 8:00 pm.

According to founder, Clinton Lindsay, "due to the late date announcement for the presentation, many top stars are contractually committed for Saturday, March 30th. Many artists have expressed disappointments that they will not be able to attend, and the Tamika Reggae Awards was founded to honor the artists and their achievements." Therefore, Mr Lindsay feels he has to change the date to accommodate the artists.

Among this year's nominees are Island Records recording artists Luciano, Beenie Man and Spanner Banner; Virgin Records' Shaggy; Columbia Records' Diana King; Loose Cannon's Buju Banton; East West Records' Snow; Def Jam's Capleton; Epic Records; Shabba Ranks and 550 Music's Patra.

Guidance,
Cool Runnings Crew.
